Fergie on American Idol - New Face? Imposter? Twin?

The Black Eyed Peas were on Idol last night, performing their new single Just Can't Get Enough. Unlike J.Lo's new single, this is a hot track that I've had in my 3 song-playlist the last few weeks - you should check it out.

The real news of the night, though, came from Fergie's face. Or at least we think it's Fergie. Who is this person or what did Fergie do to her face?

American Idol Top 12 Predictions (Season 10)

Keeping it short this week. Here are the contestants, broken into tiers based on the season so far:

The Untouchables
America loves these contestants and they aren't going anywhere for a while. They can sing the dictionary and still make it through because of America's vote. (Casey, Lauren, Pia, Scotty, James)

The Floaters
America's still voting for them now, and they aren't leaving anytime soon. But unless they tweak their game, they're not cracking the upper echelon. Contestants like those in this group do not tend to fare well with American Idol voters when the competition heats up. (Paul, Thia, Jacob)

On The Bubble
They're next on the list to be told by Ryan Seacrest, "Bad news. Because you are not not not not not not in the Bottom 3." (Stefano)

Your Bottom Three
Peace. America, not me, doesn't like these contestants. (Haley, Karen, Naima)

American Idol 10 Top 13 - Ranking

The bright lights are on. Top 13 time..The theme this week is "Songs From Your Favorite Artist"...I'm going to guess Scotty's favorite is whoever sang baby lock them doors and turn the lights down low.

Here's how they fared in my eyes (in order of appearance):

Lauren Alaina shania twain.any man of mine
Not spectacular. She hasn't proven that she can hold a note yet...she always stops way short. Style-wise, you can tell she's getting some Idol-Top-13-makeup-team help - huge difference from when she first auditioned.

...commercial...

Casey Abrams the beatles.with a little help from my friends
All the advice from Jimmy Iovine just means we're going to see a repeat performance of last week. He has perfected this sing/growl/talk thing. And yep, this feels like a repeat of last week - not that it was bad.

Ashthon Jones diana ross.when you tell me that you love me
Flat. Flat. Flat. That one note they worked on in the pre-performance clip better be bomb. I think that was it...if so, nope, now what they built it up to be. Her last note was decent, but not enough to save the performance.

...commercial...

Paul McDonald ryan adams.come pick me up
He's actually the lead singer of a band, the Grand Magnolias. If he doesn't win, which could very well happen, he'll probably ditch his old band, get a new band, and get a record deal anyway much like Daughtry (S5) did. His prancing around the stage is akin to Megan Corkrey's signature hand-wiggling and hip-twisting. I wish he would've picked a stronger or more hype song. Randy agrees.

...commercial...

Pia Toscano celine dion.all by myself
Judges always knock people on doing big songs and not doing anything with them. Hope this isn't one of those cases. Nice dress. "All By Myself" could be the perfect song for her. Damn! This is really good. Nothing else to say about that...other than that was really good. J.Lo's also at a loss for words.

...commercial...

James Durbin paul mccartney.maybe i'm amazed
Where's the scarf-tail at? Going from screaming to a normal voice is quite impressive.

sidnote: Steven Tyler replaces Paula Abdul's WTF are you saying moments with comments like "If there was ever a review about you, you just sang it." What?

Haley Reinhart leann rimes.blue
She looks the exact same as she did when she was a baby. Okay, showing cleavage. And some gold glitter nails??...ballin! Some bad points; some great notes (like when she somewhat yodeled the blue's in the middle there). At least she ditched the awkward dance moves. Steven Tyler creeping, "So so fine"...not words you use to describe a song.

...commercial...

Jacob Lusk r kelly.i believe i can fly
R.Kelly. I hope it's all 22 parts of Trapped in the Closet. Style-wise, gotta give it to him - he's looking sharp...grey suit, pink tie, red pocket square. 1st half = flat. 2nd half = wild and classic Jacob Lusk. The judges really liked it, but I'm not seeing it. Overrated.

...commercial...

Thia Megia michael jackson.smile
No creepo, but this is the 1st time we've seen her without socks. I was beginning to think she had weird feet that she didn't want to show, since she wore socks even when she was wearing open-toe shoes. Not her greatest performance - 1st half was much better than the 2nd half. Steven Tyler, "You gave it up"...what kind of phrases are these? Everything he says can be interpreted as inappropriate.

...commercial...

Stefano Langone stevie wonder.lately
Flat. Terrible so far. That suit/jacket is tight though. His performance ended okay. The judges, except for Randy, disagree and thought it was great.

Karen Rodriguez selena.i could fall in love
Meh. More average parts than spectacular ones. When she goes high, she sounds great. The judges weren't feeling it.

...commercial...

Scotty McCreery garth brooks.the river
He did alright.
He sings country, and he sings it well. No funny facial expressions from him this week, though.

...commercial...

Naima Adedapo rihanna.umbrella
Rihanna? O no, please not Only Girl. We've been down that road before. Umbrella is her song. She actually looks better with less makeup, as she does in this pre-performance segment. Performance time --> "BOOM, Fire"...what is this?!? Rapping/reggae. This is so weird. What's going on right now? Props to a performance, but that weird and the vocals were off. At least she might get VFTW's backing. Perhaps she was trying to give a Cher Lloyd-ish performance.

RANKINGS (of their performances tonight)
1. Pia
2. Casey
3. James
4. Scotty
5. Haley
6. Thia
7. Jacob
8. Paul
9. Lauren
10. Karen
11. Stefano
12. Ashthon
13. Naima

Who I think should go home: Naima

Who America will send home: Stefano

Excluding Ashthon, it's worth noting that Idol started the show with 5 of the best contestants this week (Lauren, Casey, Paul, Pia, James), as opposed to ending with them. It'll be interesting to see who the bottom 3 are, since it will give us an idea of who America's not voting for. Will it be the same 3 wildcards from last week (Stefano, Ashthon and Naima)? Or will it be a new group of 3?

American Idol 10 Top 12 Girls - Ranking

Alright. Girls Night, as the twelve semifinalists performed for one of five guaranteed spots in the finals.

Here's how they fared (in order of appearance):

Ta-Tynisa Wilson rihanna.only girl
What?! Only Girl? This could be the Jordan Dorsey performance of the night (see previous entry). Yep, I'm going to go with a No here - didn't like it. She was all over the place. Only positive: she poured her heart into it and tried to give a good show. Too bad, she's going to share the same fate as her fellow all-over-the-place performer, Jordan.

...commercial...

Naima Adedapo george gershwin.summertime
One of my pre-show picks. She stays rocking these colorful get-ups. First contestant to walk toward the judges table this season. Overall, this girl's got it.

Kendra Chantelle christina aguilera.impossible
I don't remember this girl from any of the previous rounds - kind of like this season's Michelle Delamor (S9) in terms of exposure up until this point. Tough to explain this, or how it happens, but her voice sounds like a little girl's when she hits her high notes. I hope this girl's not 17, because Steven Tyler just creeped on her. Mannerism side note: She has a little Blake Lively-in-The-Town vibe...aka she acts drugged up.

...commercial...

Rachel Zevita fiona apple.criminal
Okay! I see you - she knocked that mic stand down like she meant business. Then trekked her way all the way up and past the judges table...1-upping Naima (see Naima above) and becoming the first contestant this season to actually reach the judges table. That was a solid performance - the judges have to stop hating.

Karen Rodriguez mariah carey.hero
First off, she should definitely keep her hair up. Few bars into Hero...chikka chikka bilingual remix! This is hot. Great powerful note in the middle there. Damn, that was hot.

...commercial...
Ryan trying to pimp J.Lo's new single On The Floor. I listened to it. Don't waste your time.

Lauren Turner etta james.seven day fool
Unless she has really small nails, it looks like she didn't bother painting her nails...but instead left that paint-chipping-off-look. A part of me gives her props for not giving a f---. Part of me says 'come on - you're on national TV.' If I notice this, a good number of others have to too. Performance-wise, this girl has a big voice and I like her swagger.

...commercial...

Ashtyn Jones monica.love all over me
Beyonce. Meh. She owned the stage, but vocally..meh. I hope she gets through on attitude alone. She's got something about her.

...Idol following the same exact commercial pattern as yesterday...

Julie Zorilla kelly clarkson.breakaway
Singing Kelly Clarkson. A little flat so far. Actually, flat throughout the entire performance. Something just didn't sound right. At least her hair's on point. She's going to need America's vote at this point, because I think J.Lo just retracted any wildcard pick she would've given to her. At least I would take it back...after that performance.

Haley Reinhart alicia keys.fallin
Personal note (see previous entry) = bubbly girl with huge smile. Some of these should-be-sultry movements are coming off as painfully-awkward-to-watch. I'd say the performance overall, with more weight going toward the vocals, was good though.

...commercial...
Primetime now for the final 3 girls.

Thia Megia irene cara.out here on my own
My pre-show favorite, performing in the same slot as my pre-show favorite on the Guys' side - Paul. Please don't disappoint. Perfect song choice so far meaning-wise. That slow song was a nice change of pace. I liked it and I like her. Let's hope she gets through.

Lauren Elaina reba mcentire.turn on the radio
Straight hair = definitely better than what frizzy hair does for her look..the Katelyn Epperly (S9) look doesn't work. I didn't really think she was all that good before tonight, and only thought she stood out because of her singing of Don't Wanna Miss A Thing...but now, I see it. She can sing. I'm starting to see what others see in her.

...commercial...

Pia Toscano the pretenders.i'll stand by you
One of my early favorites. Best for last? Her performance of Grenade was hot in Hollywood. O snap, the tear-jerker Pretenders song...reminds me of the first Relay For Life video I'd seen. Yo! She killed it! ...And gets a standing o from the judges (first one this season...she just 1-upped both Naima and Rachel).

RANKINGS (of their performances tonight)
1. Pia
2. Lauren E
3. Thia
4. Karen
5. Naima
6. Haley
7. Lauren T
8. Rachel
9. Ashtyn
10. Kendra
11. Ta-Tynisa
12. Julie

The 5 I want to get through: Pia, Thia, Karen, Naima, Haley

The 5 America will vote through: Pia, Ashtyn, Lauren E, Naima, Haley

I don't know if Thia has America's vote, and Karen might be forgotten when it comes to voting. Otherwise, I'll probably agree with America once the results are revealed Thursday. Also, Julie = huge disappointment.
